MENSTRUAL CUPS: THE FAST FACTS
If you have not used any internally placed reusable menstrual product before, a menstrual cup may be the best option for you to try.
- A menstrual cup sits riiight below the cervix, so you don't have to worry about it going all the way inside your body. The cervix sets the boundaries for you 😉 off-limits from the cervix inwards hehe.
- A menstrual cup creates a seal and a suction to make sure that you'll be leak-free. There's a learning curve in creating a seal and suction but don't worry, you'll learn the art of smoothly inserting the cup eventually... practice lang.
- A menstrual cup is far less messy to remove. You just have to pinch the bottom of the cup to disrupt the seal and suction and then you can slowly drag the cup down without spilling the blood.
- A menstrual cup has more sizes. Check out our size chart to start the search for your goldicup or the cup that perfectly fits you!
- A menstrual cup is more preferable for girls with higher cervixes. If you have a high cervix and opt for a disc, you have to insert the disc deeper inside your vagina. If you're comfortable doing this, then there's no problem with either a cup or a disc.
If the thought makes you queasy: You barely get your fingers inside your vagina when inserting a menstrual cup because it is placed a little lower than a menstrual disc.
MENSTRUAL DISCS: THE FAST FACTS
If you want a longer wear time because you tend to have heavier flows, then the menstrual disc is the best choice for you.
- A menstrual disc also sits below the cervix and so it will not go all the way inside your body. Same old same old cervix setting the boundaries for you 😉
- A menstrual disc is folded longways, inserted inside the vagina on one end first, tucked behind the cervix, and then pushed against the pubic bone on the other end. Huh ano daw? Watch mo nalang yung mga video portraying it.
- A menstrual disc is removed by pulling the string, grabbing one end of the disc, and finally dragging it all the way down. In short, you might get blood on your hands.
- A menstrual disc is inserted a little higher than a menstrual cup. If you are comfortable getting deeper inside, edi no problem!
- A menstrual disc has fewer sizes available. Check out our size guide!
Fun fact lang: A menstrual disc does not have to create a seal and suction because it sits on your pubic bone parang garbage bag na nasa loob ng garbage can ready to receive all the trash
